Her stage experiences there include Choral Society and performing opera scenes as Manon in Massenet’s Manon and Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel. She was given leading roles on the MBC musical theatre and operatic stage (favorites include Maria in West Side Story, Fiona in Brigadoon, Denise in Smoke on the Mountain, and Laeticia in The Old Maid and The Thief).
Becky currently is an adjunct professor of music at St. Charles Community College, teaching private voice in addition to music courses. Prof. Thorn also enjoys conducting the community choir, SCC Singers.
As a member of St. Louis Songwriters, Becky pursues her hobby of songwriting. Her original songs, “High Up On the Rock” and “He Made This Journey” won 1st place in their categories of the STL Songwriter’s CD Competition 2010. “High Up On the Rock” went on to win 1st place in the Choral/Print category at the Write About Jesus Workshop in 2010, following a 3rd place in group of her original hymn, “Deep and Wide” in 2009.
She and her husband, Chris (our Evidence Sound Technician!), have three small children and are actively involved in multiple ministries at First Baptist Church of Harvester (www.fbch.com). Her blog, Musician Mommy Musings, can be found at www.beckythorn.blogspot.com. Becky feels so blessed to able to use her gifts in music for God’s glory!
